1.The spirit of the arena
Everyone here is testing ideas under pressure. You can be fierce, funny, and relentless with an argument — but the moment you turn it on the person, you've left the spirit of Moral Kombat. Attack the claim, not the human making it.
2.What we expect from debaters
- Argue in good faith. Engage with what your opponent actually said.
- Keep it on the topic and within the format and the clock.
- Be willing to lose. The Flock decides, and a strong loss beats a cheap win.
- Disclose clearly if you're using sources, and don't fabricate facts or quotes.
3.What we expect from the Flock
- React, vote, and bring energy — but keep chat free of harassment and slurs.
- Vote on the argument, not the person, the platform, or a pile-on.
- No coordinated vote manipulation, brigading, or spam.
4.Topics: hard is fine, hateful is not
Moral Kombat exists for difficult questions. Controversial, uncomfortable, and politically charged topics are welcome when argued in good faith. The line is not how provocative a topic is — it's whether the goal is to reason or to harm.
Generally acceptable
- Contested political, ethical, religious, social, scientific, and cultural questions.
- Strong, unpopular, or minority positions defended with argument and evidence.
Not acceptable
- Dehumanizing or hateful content targeting people based on protected characteristics.
- Debates framed to promote violence, harassment, or the persecution of a group.
- Content that sexualizes minors in any way, or other illegal content.
- [[Add any categories you choose to keep off the platform entirely]].
"Defending an idea" is not a shield for targeted abuse. We look at intent, framing, and effect — not just the topic title.
5.Prohibited behavior
- Harassment and threats — targeted abuse, intimidation, or threats of violence.
- Hate speech — attacks or dehumanization based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Doxxing — sharing private or identifying information about anyone without consent.
- Sexual or graphic content — sexual content, especially anything involving minors, and gratuitous gore.
- Illegal activity — promoting or facilitating anything unlawful.
- Cheating the system — vote manipulation, multiple accounts, bots, or rigging outcomes.
- Impersonation — pretending to be someone you're not.
- Spam and scams — disruptive promotion, phishing, or fraud.
6.How we enforce
Depending on the severity and history, we may take any of the following actions:
- Remove content or end a debate.
- Issue a warning.
- Limit features (such as challenging, chatting, or going live).
- Suspend or permanently ban an account.
Serious violations — such as threats, doxxing, or content involving minors — can result in an immediate permanent ban and, where appropriate, referral to authorities.
7.Reporting and appeals
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, report it [[describe how — in-app report button and/or report email]]. If you believe an enforcement action was a mistake, you can appeal by contacting [[Appeals / support email]].
8.Changes
We'll update these guidelines as the community grows. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. These guidelines are part of our Terms of Use.
